This Fri., Aug. 6, the historic Royal Peacock (186 Auburn Ave.) will open its doors once again for a show featuring Killa Mike (the DJ from Miami, not to be confused with the Atlanta artist) & English Fire along with John Wayne & V103's DJ Kash.
It's free before midnight. After that the cover will be $20 (ouch). This is the first of a weekly club event called Fever Fridays at the Royal Peacock, which has been closed for the last two years. More information can be found at Urban Parties Harder.
The lineup for these Friday night events will feature a slew of DJs spinning Caribbean, reggae and dance hall jams. Stay tuned for details.
A couple of weeks back I was invited to take a tour of the refurbished club, which has been restored with its original decor, or something that very closely resembles it. Over the years I've seen dozens of photos of artists performing on the stage (pictured above), but the photos were always black & white. Never in a million years would I have envisioned the place to be so red, which is actually quite arresting.
With its red and black checkered floor and deep red walls, the whole place reminds me of the black Lodge from "Twin Peaks."
At any rate, everyone from Louis Armstrong to Otis Redding, the Supremes, Jimi Hendrix and Ike and Tina Turner have all graced that stage, and you can definitely feel the history when you walk up the stairs into that legendary main room.
ooooohhhh, I'm so excited!! I can't wait to see them together!
come on man you know you got a bromance. you probably still rock that OutKast…
Yes, 14 is the correct answer. I'll pass your info along to the group's manager,…
That was January of 2007, and they are 21 now, so I'm guessing 14?
