Roll Call: Here We Go Magic's Jen Turner

Posted By on Fri, Aug 6, 2010 at 2:17 PM

Who are you?
I'm Ken Turner! Oops — the iPhone calls me Ken. I'm Jen Turner!

Describe yourself in three words.
Pat the bunny. Or — good night moon.

Who — dead or alive — would you most like to meet?
Wouldn't it be weird to meet yourself at at a younger or older age? I wonder if I'd recognize myself. I don't remember faces too well.

Who would you most like to slap in the face?
That republican priest guy on TV. Man, he really burns me up. I mean, just one slap. The sound resounding through the empty tunnel. The shock on my face that I actually did it. He'd probably be hysterically laughing as he then grew to about 50 feet to crush me with a cloven hoof.

What song do you wish you had written?
Seriously... I love Leonard Cohen. I wish I had written "Hallelujah." What an amazing song.
"Maybe there's a god above but all I've ever learned from love is how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya." Uh! Amazing. Actually, that or "Famous Blue Raincoat." "Thanks for the trouble you took from her eyes, I thought it was there for good, so I never tried." Kapow. Or "Suzanne." Even just reading the lyrics my body gets wracked with chills. What a genius. What a bloody genius.

Elvis Costello or Elvis Presley?
What?! Come on. "Blue suede shoes?" "Heartbreak hotel?" "Greatest Fling?" "Fools Rush In?" No contest.

LP, Cassette, CD or MP3?
Whatever you got! Transistor radio! Ukulele and a drunk guy! I don't know. I'm pretty lazy. If the record player is hooked up, like, all ready to go, I love getting lost down the vinyl wormhole. It's such an event.

If you could start one trend, what would it be?
Telepathy. Then no one could ever lie again!

If you could end one trend, what would it be?
Televangelism. Is that a trend? Oh it burns me up.

With whom would you most like to play a game of spin the bottle?
The Outsiders! Let's rumble.

"Collector" by Here We Go Magic
