Athens PopFest kicks off tonight

MissionofBurma.jpg

Today marks the start of the 2010 Athens PopFest, a five-day throwdown in downtown Athens that, as we reported in May, will showcase some pretty important and influential talent. Not the least of said talent is the mighty Mission of Burma (pictured).

Also playing PopFest? Lemme drop some names for ya. Apples in Stereo, Circulatory System, the Wedding Present, Go Sailor and Elekibass will all perform at some point this week. The full lineup is here. The festival kicks off tonight with a show at the cozy Caledonia Lounge featuring the Michael Guthrie Band, Mitch Easter, Atlanta's Kevin Dunn and the truly inimitable Quiet Hooves. Tickets for the whole damn thang are still available via Ticket Alternative.
