Beach Music

Posted by Scott Morris on Sun, Aug 15, 2010 at 4:26 PM

It took producer Ricky Blaze six chords to take over the tropical airwaves this summer. Gyptian's "Hold Yuh" started things off, with Nicki Minaj fitting in nicely on a remix. Nicki always does an impeccable job mixing in patois with that Queens accent. I'd hate to get cussed out by her. Above, watch and listen to the latest, and one of the most exciting, incarnations of this slow-burning riddim. Cumbia torch-bearer Uproot Andy (check out the Crime Mob remix on his Guacharaca Migration mixtape) twerks out the bassline under some steady percussion and that transfixing piano loop. Panamanian-Californian duo Los Rakas handle the verses with young Faviola on the chorus.
