R. Mexico vs Knaves Grave, the remix...

Brooklyn-based ATL expat and post-techno noise thug R. Mexico (a.k.a. Brad Hoss of Hoss Records) has bestowed Crib Notes with the honor of unveiling his remix of Knaves Grave's sensational summer hit, "I don't Wanna Be Yr AARP."

Be warned, this is a pretty banging version of the song that clocks in at almost 180 bpms.

In fact, this version of the song is so fundamentally different from the original that we demanded an explanation from the Hoss boss. Here's what he had to say...

…basically I wanted to remix something that I liked but that was not within the purview of things typically "acceptable" or at least "cool" within the realms within which I typically operate (weird and/or noisy post-dance and hip-hop-leaning stuffs).

This remix intentionally and unintentionally references: Chicago juke house, Baltimore club music, early jungle/hardcore ('adrkore...not the punk type), grime and the oeuvre of Matthew Bower (Skullflower, Sunroof!, Total, etc.)

Also I thought it would be funny to just rip to shreds a great Breeders-y pop song, and I think the remix offers a pummelingly visceral (evisceral?) reinterpretation of the original's propulsive vocal hooks as I made an entirely new track out of it. Only about 50% of the sounds are drawn from the original song that they gave me.

Click below if you have not yet experienced the summer fun magnitude of "I don't Wanna Be Yr AARP" in it's original glory...
