Adult Swim presents "Metal Swim"

For a television program, Adult Swim sure does release plenty of music. Before them, the last time a cartoon came out with a hot track had to have been that Pointer Sisters/Sesame Street collabo. The Atlanta-based network has earned hip hop cred by loaning sample sources to Danger Doom's "The Mouse and the Mask", street cred by releasing an album from the Dungeon Family's Witchdoctor, local cred with the ATL RMX project, and global cred with the African Swim compilation. But until now, most of the metal cred they had was through Metalocalypse, a show that celebrates the genre with one hand while parodying with the other. The latest release, presented as a free download by Adult Swim and Scion (also known for their support of underground music) , is Metal Swim, an onslaught of heavy tracks from groups flying just under the mainstream radar. Georgia bands represent a quarter of the compilation's 16 tracks, with appearances from Zoroaster, Withered, Kylesa, and Black Tusk. From stoner and sludge to headbanging thrash, there really is something for everyone — er, everyone who wants to have their SKULL CRUSHED BY THE JAMS.
