Music news Friends rally to help Billy Fields after robbery / shooting

If you've spent any time in Atlanta you probably know Billy Fields from his days of greeting shoppers and checking in bags at Junkman's Daughter, or from his time spent playing in bands like Rev Rebel, Seek, Upstream, and even touring with Arrested Development and the Indigo Girls on occasion. If you've been in Atlanta for a really long time you know him from his days spent playing keyboards for with HR of Bad Brains, and with old school ATL punk-funk rockers, Follow For Now.
On Sun., Oct. 3 at around 1 a.m. Fields was robbed at gunpoint in the West End where he was doing sound at a dubstep warehouse party. During the robbery he was shot at nearly point blank range. The bullet passed through his bottom jaw on the right side and exited through his opposite cheek. The bullet took some teeth with it, and caused damage to his tongue, but he is expected to make a full recovery.

In the meantime, on Fri., Oct. 8 and Sat., Oct. 9 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Fields' friends are preparing his house for his release from the hospital. If you're interested in helping get his house in order send an e-mail to 33bigfoot@gmail.com for directions.

From San Francisco comes this well-wishing. Yes, knew him in FFN and forward. Billy is a big-hearted man and, for those that know him, he will certainly survive and beyond. Please help out this great friend of my home city, Atlanta.

This is horrible. I haven't kept up with what Billy's been doing in recent years, but I saw Follow For Now a bunch of times. Super talented and inspiring band.
I've gotta say, though...I'm extremely uncomfortable with his home address being posted on the internet, especally since the gunmen are still at large, and he might be asked by the police to identify them at some point. Nevermind that musicians typically have valuable (and often irreplacible) musical equipment in their homes, which are now at greater risk of theft.

He's recovering pretty well but this is still some fucked up shit. That dude wasn't only tryna rob him, he was tryna kill him. One of the coolest & most consistent cats in the "A" since forever... shot in the face?? C'mon yo!!
