The myriad stylistic and personnel shifts of the Brooklyn-based NYMPH are too many to name in brief. Suffice it to say the group is constantly reinventing itself - not in the annoying, attention-starved way so many lesser bands do, but in an honest, musically soul-searching manner. Live, the psych-heavy group is something to behold: pounding rhythmic tension and tightly-coiled, Eastern-tinged riffs provide the basis for frontwoman Eri Shoji's soul-curdling yelps. It's a truly organic sound that melts in your brain, not your ears. (Or the other way around, I dunno. That reference didn't really work like I wanted it to.) Anyway, the current incarnation of NYMPH features two Georgia expatriates and former Dark Meat members, so go say hi.
