TMZ reports that the L.A. County D.A's office won't be moving forward on the drug case stemming from T.I.'s Sept. 1 arrest since it has already resulted in his probation violation and an 11-month prison sentence.
But even if the D.A. had decided to move forward, the case may have hit a speed bump, according to TMZ:
... law enforcement sources tell TMZ, there were significant legal issues over probable cause which led to T.I.'s arrest.
Cops claimed they smelled marijuana but no pot was ever booked into evidence. And, we're told ...T.I. was pulled out of his $250,000 Maybach immediately after he made the illegal U-turn and prior to any registration check.
Former Atlanta mayor Andrew Young indicated as much two days after T.I.'s arrest when he was quoted in the AJC suggesting that the traffic stop resulted from racial profiling:
“There’s another culture in L.A. that I don’t understand,” Young said. “Most people in Los Angeles would wonder why he was stopped … I don’t know why they should have been stopped ... When a black man is stopped and not speeding … you call that driving while black.”
Of course, the Driving While Black defense tends to work best when the driver in question is not riding dirty. Such was not the case with T.I., who L.A.P.D. stopped in his Maybach with ecstacy pills in his pocket and convicted felon Cortez Thomas riding in his back seat — both of which were enough to revoke his probation.
His sentence begins the day after Halloween.
3 people apparently love handing over an extra 40% in fees for nothing in return…
Dang. I thought they would name some actual headliners.
Forgot to mention that Iggy did a stellar show @ the Agora in the spring…
Their fees were onerous, to say the least. $16 per ticket for "convenience," and it's…
That poster is for the Iggy Pop show on March 11 1983 @ 688 club…
oh sweet: just who i was waiting to get announced!
