Relatively unknown Athens indie upstart R.E.M. (pictured in a recent promo picture) has big news, y'all. Spin reports that the group has put the finishing touches on its fifteenth studio album, the 2011-slated Collapse Into Now. As seems par for the band's recent course, the record will feature a veritable buttload of collaborators. Warbly Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder will appear, as will legendary punk songstress Patti Smith and noted vulgarian Peaches. (What, no Q-Tip?)
The result of all this? A more "expansive" record than their last (2008's pretty-damn-good Accelerate). According to bassist Mike Mills: "There are some really slow, beautiful songs; there are some nice, mid-tempo ones; and then there are three or four rockers." Good to know. Anyway, this is news, right? People still care about R.E.M.? I'm gonna go take a nap.
Nashville has more dive bars than ATL now that sucks. tbh i think that new…
*Christ, Lord sorry
"Punk" style like this seems like it is the polar opposite of punk. Bradford Cox…
They're kind of starting to look like a joke of themselves. Song's good though.
