I’m pretty sure that the self-proclaimed (and, hey, undisputed thus far) Voice of Atlanta, D.R.E.S. tha Beatnik, will never grow tired of pushing Atlanta hip-hop. If a show in town features turntables and microphones, it’s a sure bet he’ll magically appear on stage, waving around a zany lighter and hyping the crowd. For the past decade-plus, he’s entertained the city as if each “hey yo” would lead to his big break.

?
Next Saturday, Dres’ long-time Mic Club event is hosting what could be that leap forward, for him and the rest of the city. On November 27, head to the Royal Peacock, which re-opened this summer, where Dres invites “MCs preferably 18-25 and ALL LOVERS of Hip Hop” to take part in the taping of a reality show for MTV. Along with Dres and the Mic Club crew, Grammy-winning rapper Mike Bigga (formerly Killer Mike) will reportedly be in attendance.
