So much dancing to be done! I wouldn't dare tell you how, but here's where:
Afrique Electrique — Salah Ananse is going to be a busy bee this weekend, starting at the "Love Edition" of Afrique Electrique. DJ 1derful kicks things off. If you get there early, you may find dinner specials from Rheda Chikhaoui, aka Ray, the gracious and make-you-feel-at-home co-owner of Social. You'll have worked up an appetite by the end of the night with Salah's mix of house, Afrobeat and Afropop. Free before 11 with RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org, $5 after. 10 p.m. Social Resto, 12 W. Peachtree Place. 404-525-2246.
The Gathering: Returns — Ramon Rawsoul (what up, Chi-Town!), who puts on the annual House in the Park picnic (he's already planning the 2011 edition!), and NDATL's Kai Alce host tonight, with guest DJ Kevin Latham. The "return" is in reference to the event's late-night origins. The venue is a loft-style building protected from would-be party crashers trying to shut issh down, ensuring that authentic underground party feel. Plus, there's food by Royal Smoke. $7. 11 p.m. 602 Marietta St.
Love's House Affair Pre-Valentine's Day Party — There's nothing like a venue with mirrors. It's not about vanity, but expression. Makes me miss the Mark so much. But Aim aims to please with reflection for your dancing direction and wood floors. DJs Omega Black from WRFG, Yusef, Michael Alan and Taurus the Bull provide the motivation for movement. It's hosted by Salah, and goes late. $10 for 2, $8 solo. 10 p.m. Aim Studio, 383-B Marietta St. (next to Club Inferno). 770-374-1365.
Squirm — With more than 20 years of spinning behind him, Superfreq co-founder Mr. C keeps the house sound moving forward. Expect tinges of techno, which will combine perfectly with the sexy venue. Longtime Atlanta DJs Michael Scott and Kevin O kick things off. $7-$10. 10 p.m. Aurum Lounge, 915 Peachtree St. 404-815-9426. squirmatlantawithmrc.eventbrite.com.
Well, this years Music Midtown sucks!
I'm pretty sure he was 19.
3 people apparently love handing over an extra 40% in fees for nothing in return…
Dang. I thought they would name some actual headliners.
Forgot to mention that Iggy did a stellar show @ the Agora in the spring…
Their fees were onerous, to say the least. $16 per ticket for "convenience," and it's…
