R.E.M. wants you to r.e.m.i.x. them

If you’ve got a laptop and a modicum of musical ability, R.E.M.'s got a weekend project for you. They're holding a remix competition for “It Happened Today,” a track (featuring Eddie Vedder!) off their upcoming fifteenth album Collapse Into Now. Courtesy of producer Jacknife Lee, the multi-track stems for the song are available in a couple of different formats over on R.E.M.’s site. If you’ve ever wanted to make a club banger with the vocal stylings of Michale Stipe and Mike Mills (featuring Eddie Vedder!) this is your opportunity.

You can upload your completed remix or check out other producers’ takes on the official SoundCloud page for the project. Collapse Into Now is out March 8.
