With full US and European tours kicking off at the end of the month, word spread over the weekend that Zoroaster will be heading out on the road without their bass player and founding member Brent Anderson. No one in the band wants to get into the details, but Anderson is only being temporarily replaced. “We’ve had a lot of personal stuff going on and the future of Brent and Zoroaster is up to him,” drummer Dan Scanlan says. “We felt that he needed to take some time to get his personal affairs in order.”
Scanlan goes on to reiterate that Anderson has not been kicked out of the band and that his reinstatement depends on how things develop between the time that the tour starts, and when the group’s schedule slows down in June. In the meantime Scanlan and guitarist Will Fiore have recruited Whores drummer Travis Owen to play bass for the upcoming tour dates. “There’s no animosity between us,” Scanlan adds. “It’s a positive thing for everyone involved and it’s not interrupting the flow of the band.”
Anderson is taking it in stride, but he's understandably bummed. "They stuck me on the sidelines for a minute," he says. "It was not my choice. They want me to get my shit together, but I don’t think it will be the same band without me.
“I don’t hold anything against them,” he adds. “I still love Will and Dan, but it kinda hurts to see them go on tour without me. I think we can work it out, but I don’t know how I feel about their decision. The wound is still too fresh to tell.”
