A new track from Turf War showed up in my inbox over the weekend. “Summer Time Booze” is a drunken anthem that’s all about overdoing it. There’s a dirty, garage muck to the group’s blend of Tom Petty meets the Replacements-style riffs, swagger and pure American songwriting. "Summer Time Booze" embraces the slow Southern garage-punk lineage that the group has become a part of since migrating to Atlanta from its hometown of Augusta.

Turf War plays 529 Thurs., May 12 with Jacuzzi Boys and Skin Jobs. $8. 9 p.m. 529 Flat Shoals Ave. 404-228-6769.
