West End Motel: "I Like It A Lot"
In the meantime, he’s also releasing a split 2xCD, via Rocket Science Inc., featuring his other bands, Fiend Without a Face and West End Motel.
Although “new” music is a bit of a misnomer. Hinds tells Spin magazine that the music on the Fiend Without A Face release was recorded in the mid-’90s and deviates entirely from Mastodon’s sound.
Fiend serves up a surf rock whirl of strong rockabilly bass lines, while West End Motel is a different beast altogether. Hinds paired up with longtime friend Tom Cheshire (Rent Boys, All Night Drug Prowling Wolves) on the latter project, for which they’ve concocted a sound that blends gypsy folk with creepy vaudevillian intonations for a supremely authentic and delectable sound.
