Excellent news for those into pop. And festivals. And music in general. OK, excellent news for everybody! The friendly and industrious folks behind the increasingly prestigious Athens PopFest have announced the details for this year’s happening, which will take place from October 11-15 in Atlanta’s classy ‘n’ collegiate neighbor to the east. Organizers moved the event to mid-autumn from its original August timeframe, presumably to decrease the likelihood of mass dehydration. (Really, what’s with all American festivals taking place in the summertime? Ain’t y’all never heard of heat stroke?)

?
The PopFest lineup continues to improve and impress, with headliners including Olivia Tremor Control, Bob Mould, Throwing Muses, The Dead Milkmen and Man or Astro-Man?. Sure, the list reads like most 2011 festivals in that it features a smattering of reunited/reinvigorated ’90s heavyweights. But PopFest deserves credit for taking a decidedly different approach than most. Seriously: Throwing Muses? Bob Mould? Awe. Some.

The full lineup will be announced soon. A full pass for the festival will run you $70 (available at available at Ticket Alternative). For up-to-date info, bookmark the PopFest Facebook and Twitter pages.
