NPR’s All Songs Considered unveiled its picks for new fall music this week, and among heavy hitters like Bjork and Feist were two Atlanta acts, Gringo Star and Atlas Sound. It’s not much of a surprise that Atlas Sound (the solo moniker used by Deerhunter’s Bradford Cox) made the list with “Terra Incognita,” a cut from his forthcoming album, Parallax (out Nov. 8). Gringo Star’s “Shadow," however, is a pleasant surprise. The band’s been buzzing around these parts for more than a couple reasons. There’s the Newmerica-filmed video for “Shadow" (from Count Yer Lucky Stars, out Sept. 27), plus the Hurry Up and Wait: A Film About Gringo Star tour doc that's been making the rounds on the indie film circuit. You can see (or hear) the full story on NPR.
