Black Lips’ ‘Family Tree’ in HD at SoCo

Studio 8 and Video Rahim first joined forces earlier this year to create the Coathangers’ “Hurricane” and “Trailer Park Boneyard” videos. Now they’ve paired up again to capture some pretty high-octane footage of the Black Lips’ show that went down at Southern Comfort on September 10.

For this shoot they used five HD cameras, and, according to Rahim, it was one of the roughest crowds he’s ever had to fend off while filming a live concert. “We had to dodge beer cans and crazy people moshing,” Rahim says. “One of our camera people had her own drink thrown on her by one drunken audience member. Another camera man had so much beer poured on his camera that he had to have it professionally cleaned,” he adds.

But their sacrifices were not in vain. Behold, “Family Tree.” ... And know this, Rahim and Studio 8 have videos for “O Katrina!” and “Do You Wanna Dance” featuring Joey Ramone as played by Bradford Cox in the works as well. Sit tight, they’re coming soon.
