Your ATL Halloween weekend music roundup

The witching hour is upon us, folks. Halloween is here, and if you aren’t planted on the couch, overdosing on candy while being totally engrossed in the legacies of Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers and Freddie Krueger, there are a ton of shows happening all weekend long.

First, get the weekend started right tonight (Friday, October. 28) with the East Atlanta Black Mass. On this darkest eve. of the year, Jeffrey Bützer joins Molly Harvey of the Residents, and a ragtag crew of locals dubbed the LaVey Tones, to play the music of Anotn LaVey, PJ Harvey, Tom Waits, Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen — all songs about hell and the devil. The 4th Ward Afro-Klezmer Orchestra also performs, along with Ninja Puppets and Burlesque by Musee du Coeur. $7. 9 p.m. @ 529

Also tonight, F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent German horror classic Nosferatu w/ a live film score performed by Felipe Barral + a full band in Goodson Yard. Free. 8:30 p.m. The Goat Farm

Sat., Oct. 29
Riot grrrl icon and Bikini Kill/Le Tigre front woman Kathleen Hanna is spinning records for High Museum’s Culture Shock party, “Modern Masquerade,” (Sat., Oct. 29). If the weather permits, Hanna will DJ on the lawn. New York art rockers Pablo Picasso perform as well. Costumes aren’t necessary, but they are encouraged as the night comes to a head with an “alter ego” fashion show, complete with characters from Picasso and Warhol’s finest works.

Hanna will also pay a visit to WonderRoot Sat. afternoon, and will also host a screening of Who Took the Bomp? Le Tigre on Tour documentary followed by a Q&A at High Museum's Hill Auditorium at 3 p.m. Sun., Oct. 30. Tickets for that are $5.
