Jax remembered on WREK

Posted By on Thu, Nov 3, 2011 at 1:43 PM

Tuesday, November 3, 2011 — Tonight marks the three-year anniversary that Atlanta underground hip-hop staple Christopher “Jax” Thurston of Binkis Recs collapsed on stage during a performance at Lenny’s. After being rushed down the street to Grady Hospital, the 32-year-old rapper was pronounced dead.

The Fulton County Medical Examiners Office later determined that Jax died due to natural causes related to hypertension. In death, Jax has been canonized by his peers and musical cohorts in Atlanta's independent hip-hop scene. Tonight from 9-11 p.m. DJ Enchantd spins records on WREK/91.1 FM in honor of their fallen brother’s life and legacy. Jax's wife Lisa Thurston and Binkis Recs will be in the studio and have invited people to call in and share their favorite Jax memories.

The show will also be streaming live at WREK’s website.
