On the song “Thanksgiving,” the lead track on Fletcher C. Johnson’s debut album, It Rained Something Wicked, Johnson sings “We’re all a part of it.” It seems like the folk-pop auteur is talking about literally everything worldly. But when he croons that line in Atlanta the words take on new meaning. The Brooklyn dweller has never lived here, but his connections to Atlanta are numerous. While on the road, making his way to south to play a show at 529 tonight (Mon., Nov. 7) Johnson took a few minutes to talk about being on the road, Waffle House and what makes his tour van smell so delicious.

Fletcher C. Johnson plays 529 tonight with Turf War and Husseins. Free. 9 p.m. 529 Flat Shoals Ave. 404-228-6769.

?
Fletcher C. Johnson: Hi, lady!

?
Jhoni Jackson: Hey, how are you?

?
Good.

?
Are you in North Carolina yet for your next show?

?
Uh, I don’t know if we’re into North Carolina yet. We left Virginia like an hour ago. We’re somewhere in the middle. We went to our first Waffle House of the trip.

?
Waffle House is awesome!

?
The cook was really, really old. He just mumbled and you couldn’t understand anything he said.

?
That sounds like Waffle House. How’s tour been so far?

?
It’s been pretty easy. The first two shows were good, we played in Philly, then this little college town in West Virginia. Last night our show fell through and we just watched Star Wars movies. It’s been pretty relaxed.

?
Cool. Can we talk about your Atlanta ties?
