The N.E.C. drops Pineapple today

Posted by Chad Radford on Tue, Nov 8, 2011 at 3:54 PM

The release date of the N.E.C’s Pineapple (Pretty Ambitious Records) is upon us today (Tues., Nov. 8), and how about that album cover?!?!

“GTRRVVL” (which looks like guitar revival to me) arrives as the first video from the album and at just 1:12 it’s literally the tip of the psychedelic iceberg that the record holds in store. The plan is to ultimately create a video for every song on the album. “Creatures Flaming,” Pineapple’s first single which recently appeared on Altered Zones, will be the next one to come down the pike.

There's no release party scheduled yet as the group is out on the road playing shows throughout the Southeast and Midwest. In the meantime you can stream Pineapple in its entirety, but the LP sounds a whole lot better.

I saw this band once at The Star Bar. When the lead singer/guitarist came out, he argued with the sound guy about the lighting in the room for the first minute or so. After insisting that the lights be EXACTLY like he wanted them, the band proceeded to play the most generic psych rock I'd heard on the local scene.

Clearly, the lack of talent present on stage didn't warrant the intended "rock star persona." This was undoubtedly one of the worst shows I've seen in Atlanta. What a terrible attitude and music.
