Sax and Violins covers the walls at WonderRoot

mediocremachine.JPG
Sax and Violins, WonderRoot’s upstairs November art show, opened Nov. 3 and features 25-30 fliers from local shows and other music-inspired art mashups. Artists that contributed to the show include El Fossil, Tim Kohler and the Big Tent Revival Party and local promoter Luis Sandoval of Team Luis. Mediocre Machine, Bird Names, Loudermilk & Moon and Christ, Lord — all outfits that exist on the fringes of Atlanta’s art/music world—performed at the opening, and contributed fliers to the show as well.

The pieces picked for the exhibit show an array of some locals only bills, and some that include lineups featuring touring bands. The selection is somewhat small, but Sax and Violins boasts a nice sentiment — a lot of time goes into each of these fliers, and most often, they’re forgotten when the show’s over.

All of the fliers that are featured in the show are for sale, and all proceeds are being given directly to the bands. Prices range from $10 to $75 — the original one-of-a-kind monoprints are at the higher end.

The show runs through Dec. 3.

WonderRoot, 982 Memorial Drive. 404-254-5955. Open Mon. - Fri., 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. Sat. noon - 9 p.m. Closed Wed. and Sun.
