Lil B ‘Got AIDS’

The controversial rapper leaks new track for AIDS awareness

?
Uh, wow. Above, check out a leak of Lil B’s brand new song, which, as you can see, is entitled “I Got AIDS.” Now, as far as we know, the BasedGod does not, in fact, have AIDS. Rather, the track is intended to raise awareness of the importance of STD screenings, because why wouldn’t Lil B write a song about that? At the end of the song, the rapper sagely intones:

?
I wanna tell everybody, make sure y’all get tested, man. This is not a game. A lot of people have STDs right now and don’t even know. You look perfectly fine and you feel fine. It takes, uh, you know, a few months, you know, for something to form in your body but you can have it and be perfectly fine. Make sure you not transmitting these STDs to other people. I know it hurts sometimes, you don’t even wanna know. But, you know, to protect the world and to be fair to everybody else, make sure you get tested. Don’t trust nobody, ‘cause a lot of people are lying. A lot of people don’t even really know. And don’t think ‘cause a person looks good that they free. It’s a lot of people that got H.I.V.

?
So, there’s that. Lil B, of course, is no stranger to hip-hop controversy/slightly misguided social outreach, having released the surprisingly solid I’m Gay this past summer (he’s not). Of course, he’s also had his share of straight-up WTF fameball moments: threatening to rape Kanye, for instance. But this... this is just bizarre. Or not. I don’t know. From a musical standpoint, the track is pretty lazy, definitely not memorable outside of its subject matter. The overarching question: Is “I Got AIDS” an attempt to get people talking about AIDS, or to get people talking about Lil B again? Methinks it might be the latter.

(Sidenote: “GOT AIDS” is now trending on Twitter, so enjoy reading through a bunch of bullshit if that’s your thing.)
