This one’s from the way back machine. Head over to Noot d’ Noot’s Bandcamp page where you’ll find that the group has recently posted its ’06 Goofer Dust mixtape. This was the beginning of it all, the first documentation of drummer Mathis Hunter (the artist formerly known as Bimbi “Smoofus” Garraux) and keyboard player Dream Sanitation (Rich Morris) stepping outside of the psychedelic shoegazer rock ‘n’ roll stylings they’d forged together in the band Good Friday Experiment for something completely different that, over time, became the focus of their cosmic energies.

This piece of Noot archaeology pre-dates the band’s existence, and doesn’t much resemble the Noot d’ Noot of the here and now. These songs were finished and hand-cradfted into this street album a solid two years before they would matriculate as the Noot’s debut L.P. of the same title for the now mostly silent International Hits label. By the time of the actual album’s release the group had solidified as a large ensemble and was writing songs to dovetail the siren-like voices of their then front ladies known as Efectiv — Electro Siren and Circuit Diva.

The Goofer Dust mixtape was Genesis of it all, and offers an intriguing look at the primitive first steps of Noot d’ Noot’s spaced-out and funked up odyssey.

Noot d’ Noot, Bosco and DJ Dookie Platter play The Earl tonight (Fri., Nov. 25). 488 Flat Shoals Ave. 404-522-3950.
