Christ, Lord drops a live album, A. Grimes cancels tour

East Atlanta is playing host to two local shows on Wednesday, December 7, and both are worthy of your time and attention — if ramshackle local indie rock is your thing.

First and foremost, Christ, Lord is celebrating the release of a new live album dubbed 11.11.11: A Live Session at The Earl. The album features a collection of old and new songs that were recorded by Brandon Camarda and Pat Brooks of Little Tybee. Check out the video for “Sister Cygnus and Demioselle” (above) for a visual aid. There's also an MP3 for the song “I Was” (below) for yet another sample of the group's vaudevillian gypsy indie stomp. If that’s not enough you can hit up Christ, Lord's Bandcamp page for a couple more live selections.

Fellow locals Faun and a Pan Flute open the show. We The Lion closes it all down.

$5. 9 p.m. 488 Flat Shoals Ave. 404-522-3950.

Down the street at 529, A. Grimes, Red Sea, Where Are We and Brain are playing what was supposed to be a tour kick-off party as A. Grimes was about to head out to play a few shows on the road. Alas, too many shows fell through and the tour has been canceled.

But Wednesday's show at 529 is still on. There’s no cover charge per se, but donations are being accepted.

There isn’t any new A. Grimes music with which to tempt you here, but singer/guitarist Britt Teusink has recently posted a few other odds and ends to the Internet.

First, check out a new low-fi "beat tape," dubbed menohavenofrands. Then hit up a fairly recent deadCAT track titled “Escapism.”

But really, for all things A. Grimes, go here.

Donations. 9 p.m. 529 Flat Shoals Ave. 404-228-6769.
