Inquisition summons the dark lord at Archive Gallery

Posted by Chad Radford on Wed, Dec 7, 2011 at 2:02 PM

Before he called Washington state home, black metal axe master Dagon (vocals, guitar, bass) imported a lifetime of foreboding angst and rage from the darkest side of Cali, Colombia. Now smashing strings alongside his drummer Incubus, the duo best known as Inquisition makes a stop in Atlanta tonight (Wed., Dec. 7) en route to the Rites of Darkness Fest in San Antonio, TX.

The group’s slow and low rumble is prone to fits of break-neck blast beats, tempo changes, and lightning-fast riffs before treading back into the mire. Throw in some unexpected melody that conjures up elements of tortured human frailty and a trademark style emerges from the scorched, metallic chaos — Satanism not withstanding. For more on this delve into the grooves of any number of albums with titles such as Invoking the Majestic Throne of Satan, Magnificent Glorification of Lucifer or Into the Infernal Regions of the Ancient Cult. … Or come to the show tonight and look the corpse painted demons in the eyes, if you’ve got the guts.

Disfigurement and Abyssus open. $10. 8 p.m. Archive Gallery, 611 North Ave. NW. 678-670-3498 or 404-246-5043.
