Roscoe Dash and Future are two Atlanta artists that have waded through the crowded pack of rappers on the comeup in 2011. The two are up for the title of "Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2011," a contest running on the MTVNews RapFix blog.
Future got the nation's attention with his feature spot on "Racks," the song you probably heard every time you turned on the radio (to your pleasure or dismay) in the beginning of 2011. He also made a name for himself with his 2011 mixtape, True Story which unleashed another ubiquitous song with an equally annoying/addictive hook, "Tony Montana."
Roscoe Dash has been around for a minute. Can you believe "All The Way Turnt Up" was released two years ago? In the mean time, Roscoe has been keeping his name in the streets by playing the hook man for Waka Flocka's "No Hands" and Big Sean's "Marvin & Chardonnay." On December 20, Dash will drop his debut EP, J.U.I.C.E.
Other than the two area mainstays, candidates for the coveted "Breakthrough" title include Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, Mac Miller, Freddie Gibbs and Machine Gun Kelly (who will be performing with Waka Flocka at Wild Bill's in Duluth THIS Friday, Dec. 9.)
