I know gay men's choruses are a common feature in larger cities, but I have to ask, why gay? Would they really refuse to allow a hetrosexual male sing with him even if he had a great voice? Seems like it only serves to give justification to those who discriminate based on sexual orientation, homosexual or heterosexual.
hey Centennian: then lets have equal rights to social security benefits; hospital visits, lving wills, adoptions, pension laws, and on and on...and on!
As a note, Centennian--The AGMC allows men of all sexual orientations to join...while we are self-identified as a gay men's chorus, we welcome all men who have a passion (and talent) for singing.
To follow what natto78 mentioned, our city also has several musical organizations that spring from the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community -- Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus, Atlanta Freedom Bands, Atlanta Philharmonic Orchestra and OurSong chorus. We share a mission of representing our community through music, but we also welcome people of all orientations to join. We hope our presence on stage provides a point of pride for our LGBT community, a positive example for the broader community, and a reminder that we all need to join voices in the work for equality.
