Respite From The Cold returns

Posted By on Thu, Dec 15, 2011 at 11:59 AM

Returning for it’s fourth year in a row, Respite From the Cold has become something of a December tradition around these parts.

This year the First Existentialist Church (overlooking Candler Park) plays host to an evening of warm ambient drones, atmospheric dirges, head-cleaning noise, and various other strains of minimal aural pleasures on Sat., Dec. 17.

Quiet Evenings, Hopi Torvald, Magicicada, Villages, and HTA (featuring Robby Kee) are all lined up to bliss out on a bill stacked with serene music that's been crafted to, as the name suggests, provide safe harbor from the harsh winter weather outside, even if Mother Nature has been kind this year — so far.

$5. 9 p.m. First Existentialist Church, 470 Candler Park Dr. NE.
