Peach Kelli Pop brings Canadian cute overload to Atlanta

Posted by Jhoni Jackson on Fri, Dec 16, 2011 at 1:09 PM

Come to 97 Estoria hungry for a whole bunch of awww ... tonight (Fri, Dec. 16), when Allie Hanlon of Ottawa’s White Wires brings her cutesy solo project, Peach Kelli Pop, to Atlanta for the first time. She’ll be backed by a few ladies (adorably dubbed the Slush Puppies) as well as Jeans Wilder and Freak Daniels, a couple of fun-lovin’ dudes borrowed from Portland, Ore.'s, resident party-punk band Mean Jeans.

Peach Kelli Pop’s self-titled LP, released late last year on Canadian imprint Going Gaga and recently reissued by JEFF the Brotherhood’s Infinity Cat label, is a sweet, doe-eyed take on the doo-wop-rock motif. The vocals are sugary and helium-high, but the tongue-in-cheek lyrics and throwback melodies make it safe for guilt-free binging.

With Predator and Black Lodge. Free. 9 p.m. 97 Estoria, 97 Estoria St. 404-522-0966.
