Slow Southern Steel film screeing + Hail!Hornet, Zoroaster. $10. 7:30 p.m. (Slow Southern Steel is the first documentary film to explore the true underbelly of heavy metal music in the American South. Director CT of Arkansas sludge rockers Rwake delves into a day in the lives of such Georgia-based acts as Zoroaster, Torche, and Kylesa, to the more exotic locale’s that sprouted Dark Castle, Eyehategod, Weedeater, and several more. Through interviews and live footage, the film captures a different side of the Dirty South, one that’s steeped in doom, angst, ear-splitting feedback, and distortion.
