By day he was a was a sign-language interpreter at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, but anyone who’s spent any time at all hanging around Atlanta music haunts over the last several years has crossed paths with Daniel Barken, husband to former Wax n’ Facts clerk Rhonda Dennis. On January 29, Barken, 40, died after a motorcycle accident near the Old Fourth Ward. A memorial is being held for him today (Thurs., Feb. 2) at Front Page News in Little Five Points from 3-5 p.m. The restaurant will be closed to the public during that time. Ria Pell (of Ria’s Bluebird / Sauced) is providing food.
The man who put acoustic music — and singer-songwriters ranging from the Indigo Girls to John Mayer — on the map in Atlanta via his namesake Eddie's Attic has exited the venerable Decatur music venue for good
