Catching up with Clan Destined

Posted By on Wed, Feb 8, 2012 at 8:47 AM

It’s been a minute since we last checked in with DT and AmDex of Atlanta hip-hop twosome Clan Destined, but they’ve broken the silence this week with a couple of new offerings. First up is the video for “Scream,” a song from last year's full-length, The Self Titled. Here we get a face full of the workingman’s burden — too drunk to get down, and too fed up to deal with the jobby job. … It's a song for one of those days.

Anyway, Stacy Epps’ hooks are top-shelf here, and the Office Space re-enactment only underscores what kind of ode this song is meant to be.

Also of note, AmDex slipped by under the radar this week with a new, self-produced cut under his name, Yamin Semali (which he’s been going by more and more as of late), called “What I’m Living For.” It’s got more of a classic G-soul Cadillac stride kind of thing going on than anything he's been cranking out with Clan D over the last few years. It's is a bit of a departure for sure, but he's broken the mold with style here. If you ask him, he’ll say it’s “a little chill joint before I introduce the harder work.”

Regardless, it’s a solid counterpart to the “Scream” video, and if you turn up the instrumental cut on your ride to work, before you know it, the world belongs to you.
