Andre 3000 is too cool for razor bumps, fool

Posted by Rodney Carmichael on Thu, Feb 9, 2012 at 1:18 PM

So 3 Stacks' Gillette commercial with Adrien Brody and Gael Garcia Bernal dropped last week and I've been trying for the life of me to figure out how they talked the brother into shaving with a razor? Everybody knows razor bumps are the bane of a black man's existence. (Thank God for Magic Shave!)

But this is a good look, yes? And just in time for Black History Month. We know we've achieved racial equality when black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics can appear in a Gillette commercial together. And shaving with the same razor, no less.

And while we've been seeing less and less of Andre the thespian lately, I honestly think this is some of his better acting to date:

Seriously though, dude's a natural when it comes to cool. In his extended Gillette Masters of Style interview below 3000 talks about his unique sense of style while wearing a slick pair of riding boots — something else I haven't seen a brother rock since the days of finger waves and Cazals. Go ’head Andre!

Rodney, that last tag might be your best work yet.

So dude can make commercials for Gillette but he can't hop on ONE record with Big Boi?

As a OutKast fan since 1994, I'm comfortable in saying that Dre is selfish and left Big out to dry.

ha, thanks Gabe, i think.

yeah, mike404, people have been saying that a lot in response to the commercial, but Jive Records is really to blame. 3000 recorded verses for three songs on Big's last solo album, but when Big jumped ship from Jive to Def Jam to release it, Jive blocked Andre's verses from appearing on the album — even though Jive hadn't shown any interest in releasing Big Boi's album while he was still on Jive.

but the latest word is that they're both headed to Epic, where L.A. Reid is now, so the Jive a$$ record label politics should be a thing of the past.

Im going to ask a really stupid question? How does a black man shave if not with a razor? A straight razor? Are black men who are actually buying electric razors?

Hahaha. These comments are very entertaining. Oh, the post is cool too. I love 3stacks!

I actually went out and bought one of these, just based on seeing Andre in the commercial, and I have to say it works really well. I've had problems finding an electric shaver that can handle coarse hair, and this one works a lot better than even te more expensive ones. I mean, Andre 3000 doesn't seem like the type to just do random celebrity endorsements, nor is he hurting for cash, so I'm guessing the product works for him.
