4 excellent shows to hit up on a Tuesday night

The exodus has begun, and if throngs of local show-going folk haven’t skipped town for SXSW already, their caravans will be departing very soon. But Atlanta hasn't been completely vacated. Here are four shows that are totally worth checking out on a drizzly Tuesday night (March 13).

1. Toots & the Maytals. $18 (adv). 7 p.m. @ Masquerade (Heaven). These guys are kind of legendary … It's said that their 1968 number "Do the Reggay" was the first song to make use of the word "reggae."

2. Jane’s Addiction, the Black Box Revelation. $43.50. SOLD OUT. 8:30 p.m. @ Tabernacle. The set list for these shows has been changing a bit from night-to-night, but across the board, Perry Farell and Co. have been pulling out the hits for this tour.

3. Slum Village The Dirty Slums mixtape release party with Rapper Big Pooh, Stanza, and Naj Murph. $12. 8 p.m. @ Masquerade (Hell). There’s a legacy of Detroit hip-hop history attached to Slum Village’s name. The group's current incarnation includes founding member T3, Illa J (J Dilla's brother), and Young RJ — not to be missed.

4. Narrows (feat. former members of Botch and Unbroken), All Pigs Must Die (former members of Hope Conspiracy and Converge), Wizard Smoke, Dead In The Dirt. $8. 9 p.m. @ 529. This is looking like it's going to be one of the gnarliest shows to come through EAV this year. Prepare to have your brains and your ears brutalized.
