Gringo Star + cats

Gringo Star, Carnivores, and Lighnin’ Ray play the Earl tonight (Fri., Apri 13). No cats allowed.

This week, Creative Loafing’s’s cover story is all about cats. For this video we lassoed a couple of poor cats named Luke Catwalker and Bat Cat, and fitted them with a cat cam around their necks for a day of undercover investigation at CL HQ. The video features an instrumental version of Gringo Star’s “All Day Long” from the 2009 album All Y’all.

It’s been about six-months since the Gringos played a show around these parts, but that all changes tonight when Atlanta’s quintessential psychedelic indie rockers make a hometown appearance on the eve. of their latest album, Count Yer Lucky Stars’ European release. Local rockers Carnivores and former Washed Out vocalist/bass player Lightnin’ Ray & the Mystics open — the latter of whom is celebrating the release of his debut album, Somewhere in the Velvet Sky.

$10. 9 p.m. The Earl, 488 Flat Shoals Ave. 404-522-3950.
