Music news Team Luis needs a new Green Card

Because freedom ain't free, there's a benefit show happening this Saturday, May 12 at the Star Bar, and here's what the fund raising efforts are all about:
Sandoval says he is a legal US resident, and has had a Green Card (or Permanent Resident card) since he was a baby. But as it turns out, these cards aren't so permanent anymore - nowadays they're good for a 10-year period. "I mentioned this, sort of casually, to some friends a couple weeks ago ... They decided to throw me a benefit show," Sandoval says. "Ultimately we figured if we're going to raise money for a Green Card renewal, which is only about $500, I might as well apply for US citizenship, which costs about $1200. Both take six months to process, which is why this is happening in May."
It's not an unreasonable amount of money to raise, which is probably why the benefit costs only $5 at the door.
So if all works out, how will Luis make America a better place? "I plan on continuing to book shows, manage bands, and eat a lot of pizza," he explains, and in this great melting pot, what could be more American than pizza and rock 'n' roll?
The list of bands that have signed up to keep their brother-in-arms in the land of milk and honey includes: Death on Two Wheels, Freak Out, Factory, Jack Preston & DOJO Collective, Dead Rabbits, Abby GoGo, Jade Lemons & the Crimson Lust, and Emily Kempf of Back Pockets is playing a solo set. There are also a few secret surprise guests perfoming as well. DJs Black Dominoes, Chadlanta, Stephanopolis, and Ponce Monster will be there as well, and the whole thing will be hosted by the Mayor of Ponce.
