Tunes From the Tombs returns this weekend — Saturday and Sunday (May 19-20) — for it’s second year of raising funds for Historic Oakland Cemetery, while staying true to the cemetery’s original purpose. “This is one of the oldest parks in Atlanta,” explains Tunes From the Tombs founder Pete Knapp. “It’s a little macabre, but when the park was created, people in the Victorian era would go there with their families to tend to their loved ones’ graves, and the kids would climb on the tombstones — they'd make a day of it.”

Last year, Knapp’s efforts helped raise nearly $23,000 to help fund the cemetery's upkeep and restoration efforts. Nearly 50 bands are performing this year, including Peter Case, the Whiskey Gentry, Adron and more, including Mood Rings who are playing their first show around these parts in a good long while.

A full schedule of the weekend’s performances is posted below.

$10 for one day or $15 for a two day-pass. Children 12 and under are $5 ($10 for a two-day pass). Children 3 and under are free. Music starts up around 1:30 p.m. Oakland Cemetery, 248 Oakland Ave.
