Go-go to Soul Makossa's Chuck Brown tribute

All the ATLiens who love the sounds of go-go music, take note: This Friday (June 1), DJ Kemit will honor the late Chuck Brown at a special edition of Soul Makossa.

Brown, as many folks know, was a guitarist who pioneered the percussion-heavy style of music called go-go (which is most popular in the Washington, D.C., area but loved across the globe). Brown passed away on May 16, but luckily - thanks to the efforts of cats like Kemit - his music lives on today and into the future.

Whether you're a fan or have never even heard of Brown or go-go, a trip to Soul Mokassa will yield copious amounts of booty shakin' ... so go.

$5. 11 p.m.-3 a.m. the Sound Table, 483 Edgewood Ave.
