Erik Rico brings 'futuristic soul' to Apache Café

4324859_orig.jpeg

"Futuristic soul" vocalist/musician/producer Erik Rico doesn't play many live shows stateside, so his appearance in Atlanta this Saturday (June 2) is indeed an ultra-rare occasion.

And just in case you aren't familiar with Rico (the man behind the groundbreaking album Journey Back to Me, tons of other cuts he produced for artists such as Q-Tip, and more), don't sweat it. Honestly, he's underground even for some serious heads. But cats who know his music - which blends classic soul stylings with cutting-edge tracks - are cult-like devotees. Come take a look/listen and see what all the international acclaim is all about this weekend.

Plus: On the same bill you've got DJ sets from iconic producer Daz-I-Kue, DJ Barry King and DJ Larmarrous (who is celebrating a birthday that night, too). Don't miss out.

$15 (in advance). Doors open at 9 p.m. Apache Café, 64 3rd St., NW. www.apachecafe.info.
