At Tree Sound Studios' hot and packed private listening party for 2 Chainz last night, I ran into Go Dreamer, Atlanta's self-described Weerdo. True to form, he was wearing a dashiki and speaking in an African dialect in between taking tokes from a funny-smelling cigar. But he was still focused as he discussed his follow-up to Animal$ v$. Machine$ and the recent trip he took to New York on a Greyhound bus (18 hours, fyi) to perform with homies Mach 5 and Two-9. When talking about how receptive the NY crowd was to Atlanta's otherground sound, he referred to it as "the Creative Loafing scene."
Speaking of which — peep the segue — Go Dreamer put an old issue of CL to handy use in his recent freestyle viral video, "Take Me to Your Leader." He's dropping a new video every week for the buildup to his upcoming release, Animal$ v$. Machine$ 2: Side A, due Aug. 21. He calls them Weerdisodes, and the latest finds him in the woods of Lithonia discussing his rap origins and taking us to the basement where some of Hollyweerd's underground hits were made.
