New Music Primitive Patterns unveils 'Molotov's Descent Scene I, II' from forthcoming Magicicada tape, 'PRE'

On Monday (Aug. 20) Primitive Patterns released the first of what's to be a slow leak of tracks from the forthcoming Magicicada cassette tape, titled PRE. Every three-to-five days between now and the tape’s physical release (Sept. 28), the label will continue posting new songs, but only enough to pique your ears.

In a strange way, “Molotov's Descent Scene I II,” is a bit of a departure for Magicicada, if it’s even possible for Chris White to have a departure. Manipulated bits of musique concrete, electronic sounds, drones, and beats are his forte. This new track fits the description to be sure: Drums recorded in an A-framed, wooden-walled living room, with microphones hanging from the ceiling and kids jumped on a trampoline, and literally swinging from the rafters were all rich sound sources for everything that you hear, all recorded into a 4-Track and later manipulated and mixed up with some keyboard for rhythm and structure.
