“This is what I call "the Art Of The Stretch"!!” D.R.E.S. tha Beatnik said on Facebook. “That grey area between Acts when the Host has to keep the Audience engaged in the Overall production before the Next Act Performs!!”
If you were fortunate enough to catch CL's 40th Birthday Bash + Best of Atlanta Extravaganza at the Goat Farm a few weeks back you got to see all the action first-hand. If not, there were a ton of photos from the show and, of course, the illustrious Best of Atlanta 2012 issue.
A ton of great acts were in the building — Arrested Development tore the place up along with Gun Party, the Wheeler Boys feat. Joe McGuinness, and Adron — but oft overlooked is the importance of the host.
It’s true, without a good host that “grey area” between one band breaking down equipment and the next hitting the stage can turn into a stagnant dead-zone. Audience enthusiasm tends to wane, bar lines begin to wrap around the corner of the building, and people start thinking of life after the show — not a good thing.
The solution? Well, there’s many ways to handle it, but we tend to think D.R.E.S. tha Beatnik’s 11-minute beatbox freestyle was one of the the best options in the known universe. We’re probably a little biased since it was our party and all, but watch the video and hopefully you’ll see what we see.
D.R.E.S., thanks for keeping the party going and helping make CL’s 40th a night to remember. You can beatbox for us anytime.

Yes, 14 is the correct answer. I'll pass your info along to the group's manager,…
That was January of 2007, and they are 21 now, so I'm guessing 14?
