Hard-hitting bands from around the Southeast took on the Highlander Saturday night, drowning out thoughts of impending doom (You know, that whole Mayan prophecy thing) with a cocktail of cheap beer and fast, gritty music. Burns Like Fire, Flat Tires, Antagonizers ATL, Brains for Brunch, and the Nervous Jerks all played strong, churning through roughly half-hour sets with high-energy performances and stage antics that often spilled into the crowd.
The Antagonizers ATL managed to blow a guitar head, Brains for Brunch knocked over a few speakers, and an amped-up crowd busted so many beer bottles on the dance floor it was impossible to keep count. (Pro tip: Glassware at a concert is never a good idea) Still, we survived to see another day. Organizers called it the first-annual Apocalypse fest. If this rock we call home holds together another year expect to see round two come November 2013.
Until then, peep the video of Brains for Brunch performing "Zombie Girlfriend" above and check out all the photos from Atlanta Punk Apocalypse 2012. Click any of the photos below to see the full photo gallery:
