Marietta-based nerdcore band Treephort has earned an oddball reputation over the years for their wacky stage presence and randomly hilarious videos - so wacky, in fact, their antics managed to get the guys booted from the Van's Warped Tour way back in 2003.
After coming off a more than five-year hiatus in 2009, the band has churned out at least three self-released albums and are gearing up for a fourth. The digital version of the ICPizza EP is due out in the next few weeks, with a special split cassette version featuring Myrtle Beach-based Bamboo Forest slated to be available on Treephort's January mini-tour.
"[This EP] is almost a sort of sarcastic rebuttal to Radio Disney," Treephort singer Lee Satterfield said, adding that he penned many of the lyrics on the car ride home from a recent trip to Disney World. "I think when things just sort of happen and there's not too much thought put into it, those tend to be the stuff that's closest to what it's all about."
Rounding out at little more than 30 seconds - and sounding something like the demonic offspring of YouTube sensation Fred and the late GG Allin (in a good way?) - it's easy to write off the whole thing as a joke. But don't be fooled. Yeah, it's kind of funny, but this short track also captures a lot of the fun-loving elements that keep Treephort interesting more than a decade after dropping their first demo.
"It's not that I don't care, I just like to put songs out there that meet the needs of my attention deficit disorder," Satterfield said.

They're kind of starting to look like a joke of themselves. Song's good though.
