Mondays usually suck, right?
I mean, once you've hit the first day of the workweek, the weekend, and all the fun that comes with two days away from the office, is over and done with, right? Well, this particular Monday will suck a whole lot less, and that's because Atlanta drummer/bandleader Lil' John Roberts has gathered a group of soul music's top talents for an impromptu night of freeform sounds ... and a few surprises.
According to Roberts, hometown vocalists Chantae Cann and Anthony David, Seattle-based singer Choklate, D.C. singer Muhsinah, and the Good Times Brass Band (with members hailing from all over the place) are slated to be on hand at the SoundTable tonight. On top of that crew of heavyweights, Roberts teases that at least one super-secret guest will be in the house. All in all, it's safe to say that folks who attend are in for a memorable musical experience "Anybody that knows me knows that I love pulling dope, creative people together to create harmony and a good vibration," Roberts says.
$7-$10. 9 p.m. The Sound Table (Space 2), 483 Edgewood Ave. www.thesoundtable.com. To RSVP for advance tickets, send an email to liljohn@thesoundtable.com.
