New Music Toro y Moi/Dog Bite hit the road with split single

Toro y Moi / Dog Bite split 7-inch

Chaz Bundick is taking his blissfully sample-heavy pop project Toro y Moi on the road. Having uprooted from South Carolina to Berkeley, CA to write and record his third LP, Anything in Return, Bundick's new locale seems to have affected the vibes charted out in the project's previous material.

"Lyin (Pt. 1-4)," a track available on a tour-only split 7-inch commemorating this winter tour with goth-pop touring mates Dog Bite, reveals those sunny melodies and eagerly gleeful tunes are still there, but with a curious nod to Stones Throw's funky aesthetic and '80s/'90s R&B.

Dog Bite plays the Basement on Saturday, January 19 with Red Sea and Magic Apron. $7. 9 p.m.
