Ante Meridian's latest double-shot highlights the stylistically opposite but totally natural sides of the group's personality. "Baptisms under Fire," the more bombastic of the two cuts offered up here, shows off the verbal skills of local emcees G.R.E.A.T. Scott and Big Rec, underscored by a hard-edged hook via Rozewood that keeps the beat moving along. "Love Me" is a bedroom jam that reveals a softer, smoother side of Rozewood and Mr. Enok's songwriting. "It's part of the 'ante meridian' meaning, being that the a.m. hours deal with both light and dark," Mr. Enok says. "It's good to have contrast in the music: hard, soft, and everything in between."
